John Nelson Griffon, 72, of Imperial (formerly of Cherokee Pass), died October 24, 2009 at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born May 8, 1937, in Zion, Missouri, a son of Earl and Tressie (Matthews) Griffon. Anna Florence Gorse, his wife of 51 years, survives him. They were married on June 14, 1958, in Cherokee Pass, Missouri.
Mr. Griffon is also survived by, two sons, Randy Griffon of Barnhart, Missouri, and Jerry Griffon of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Bob Griffon of South Korea, and Ray Griffon of Moscow Mills, Missouri; and one sister, Lee Anna Cox of Fredericktown.
His parents, brothers: Melvin, Marvin, Roy and Harold Griffon, and infant sister, Virginia Griffon, preceded him in death.
Mr. Griffon retired as a welder for Abex and then worked as a high-lift operator.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.
He was a member of the Oakville Baptist Church in Oakville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held October 26, 2009 at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor John Hessel officiating. Burial was at Marcus Memorial Park Cemetery in Fredericktown.
Pallbearers were: Jerry Griffon, Dan Francis, Scott Akers, John Gorse, Andy Grose and Brady Wreath.
