City residents started receiving phone calls Tuesday morning as part of the ongoing multi-year state DREAM Initiative program. The state-funded effort is meant to help communities revitalize downtown areas.
The Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri, or DREAM, initiative survey is meant to sample random residents to “assess desired wants and needs for downtown Farmington,” DREAM officials said.
“It’s very valuable input and the survey is anonymous,” according to City Administrator Greg Beavers. “The planning consultant will use this information for future planning efforts, so if called, I encourage our residents to participate. It’s a great way to give your opinions and contribute to downtown plans.”
The DREAM Initiative is meant to help small and mid-sized communities in the state access existing assistance programs to help with downtown revitalization and job creation. First started by former Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, the program allows local leaders to “more efficiently and effectively engage in redevelopment as well as attract new private investment into the heart of their communities.”
More information about the DREAM Initiative can be found at www.dream.mo.gov. For any further questions regarding the phone survey, calls can be directed to the city administrator at 756-1701.
