From axes to wagon wheels, with all kinds of cups, buckets and bells in between, college football teams play for some pretty odd stuff.

How well do you know your rivalry trophies? Here’s a test (answers below), based on information provided by the NCAA record book. We’ll stick to those involving FBS teams.

Prepare to Google.

(answers are on page 7)

ANSWERS

1. Bowling Green and Kent State.

2. USC-UCLA (Victory Bell); Cincinnati-Miami, Ohio (Victory Bell); Duke-North Carolina (Victory Bell). Also credit for Ball State-Indiana State, which is for the Blue Key Victory Bell, and Minnesota-Penn State, which is for the Governor’s Victory Bell.

3. The Territorial Cup, which goes to the winner of the Arizona-Arizona State game. The trophy dates to 1899, but it was lost for decades. In 2001, the Sun Devils and Wildcats started playing for it again. Also accepted is the Little Brown Jug, which Michigan and Minnesota have been playing for since 1909.

4. Iowa State and Missouri.

5. Indiana-Michigan State and New Mexico State-UTEP.

6. Clemson-North Carolina State.

7. A-2; B-1; C-3.

8. Rice-SMU

9. Oklahoma-Oklahoma State.

10. A bronze statue of a pig and he goes to the winner of the Iowa-Minnesota game.

If you scored more than 18 points — without the help of a search engine — you could probably win a lot of bets.
