Upcoming local sports events

Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone (573) 431-2010, FAX (573) 431-7640 or drop it off by person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.

Basketball Clinic — Nov. 21

The North County Varsity Basketball Programs will be offering a clinic for students grades 1-6 on November 21st at North County High School. The clinic is for both boys and girls with instruction provided by Raider and Lady Raider coaches and players. The cost of the clinic is $5.00 per player, and the times are as follows: Grades 1-3 Boys and Girls 8-10 a.m., Grades 4-6 Boys and Girls 10-noon. Wrestling Sign-Ups — Nov. 23

The Farmington Mat Rat Youth Wrestling Club will be holding a Sign-Up & Information Meeting on November 23 at 7 p.m. in the Farmington High School Cafeteria. For more information call Amanda Bland at (573) 366-9577. 

Hoop Shoot — Dec. 5

The Farmington Elks Lodge #1765 will host their annual Hoop Shoot (free throw contest)  for all boys and girls, ages 8-13, at Farmington on December 5 at 10 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran School gym. Participants will be placed in boys and girls age groups of 8-9, 10-11,  & 12-13 with April 1, 2010 as the determining date of age. Winners move on to district, state, regional and National competitions. For more information contact Larry Cruse at (573) 756-6272.
