This past Saturday was the November gathering of our Fredericktown Fillies Red Hat meeting.
Each month we meet at different places and one of our ladies is responsible for being the hostess. All of our meetings are enjoyable, fun filled, and usually quite interesting.
This month’s meeting was certainly no different. The table decorations were in keeping with the Fall season, with individual treats of goodies for everyone. Our hostess had several games for us to play which resulted in laughter and tears combined. Then on a serious note, she asked each of us to share something for which we are thankful. Not just the "pat answer" of my family, my home, my children, but something much deeper and more personal.
Don’t get me wrong: family, home, and children are of course important and top priority with most of us. Yet our hostess was asking us to go even deeper into our lives and consider other valuable reasons for which we are to be thankful.
Our community was an answer that made us realize the bond many of us have with one another. Safety in our travels as we go about our daily duties was another answer. The freedoms we so richly enjoy in this country that so often we take for granted. The beauty of the four seasons. And an answer that touched my heart was: answered prayers.
How often do we ask for something from our Heavenly Father and then when the answer comes, we forget to give Him praise and thanks? It might not come as we expect, when we think it should, or how we think it should be, but the Holy Bible says we are to, “Give thanks always, with a grateful heart.” Remember, He is in charge and truly knows what is BEST for each of us.
Now that the Thanksgiving time of year we celebrate is upon us, let’s all have a more thankful heart, a true spirit of praise, and gratefulness for all we enjoy. We truly are a blessed people and privileged beyond measure.
