The Fredericktown High School Football Team lost 70-27 to Kennett, Friday night at Kennett.
The game was the Class 3, District 1 opener for both teams. Fredericktown got the seven seed and had to take on the No. 2 Indians.
Kennett got on the scoreboard first with a pair of rushing touchdowns to grab a 15-0 lead.
The Cats scored with 3:54 to play in the first quarter, when Seth Laut threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Noah Korokis.
The Indians added another first quarter touchdown and one early in the second quarter to jump ahead 27-6. Fredericktown scored on a two-yard pass from Laut to Cade Ethington with 11:15 to play in the first half.
Kennett scored three more times in the second quarter. The Cats scored on a three-yard run by Korokis. He added the two-point conversion to make it 49-21 at the half.
Kennett scored three more times in the third quarter. Fredericktown picked up the final score in the fourth. Korokis threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Alex Sikes.
For the game, Laut completed seven passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Korokis completed two passes for 28 yards and a touchdown. Korokis ran 16 times for 95 yards and a score. He also caught two passes for 48 yards and another touchdown. Ethington had two catches for 60 yards. Ethan Flanagan caught four passes for 30 yards. Mike Parrish ran five times for 39 yards.
On defense, Korokis led with nine solo tackles and three assists. Parrish had seven solo tackles and Holden Sikes had two tackles for a loss.
The Indians will continue in district play as they host Salem, Friday night. Salem advanced with a 38-0 victory over Dexter. In the other district semifinal, Central will host Ste. Genevieve. The Rebels were 55-12 winners over New Madrid, while the Dragons topped Potosi, 47-17.
