The Fredericktown High School girls’ basketball team dropped a pair of games last week.

Monday, Fredericktown lost 48-23 to South Iron. Maddie Burrows led the Cats with 11 points.

Thursday, the Cats hosted West County, and lost 49-42 in overtime. After falling behind 14-4 after one quarter, the Cats stormed back with a 9-3 second quarter and a 15-9 third quarter. The game was tied at 39-39 at the end of regulation.

Mallory Mathes led the Cats with 21 points. Callista Francis had 14 points and 17 rebounds.

The Lady Cats play at Arcadia Valley, Thursday. They open play in the 62nd Annual Bob Sechrest Jr. Central Christmas Tournament, at 1 p.m., Dec. 26. Seeded seventh, the Cats play No. 2 seed South Iron.

Blackcats drop two to MAAA foes

The FHS boys’ basketball team lost to a pair of conference teams last week.

Fredericktown lost 61-58 to Bismarck, Dec. 12. The Cats lost 44-35 to Valle, Dec. 13.

The boys received the 14th seed in the Christmas Tournament. They play No. 3 Farmington at 7 p.m., Dec. 27.
