The Fredericktown High School Girls Basketball Team lost to Farmington, 79-49, Monday night.

Prior to the varsity game, the FHS Student Council hosted First Responders Night, recognizing all first responders in the community. The Gold Dusters, Intermediate School Student Council, Pep Club, and Cheerleaders also assisted with the evening.

In the basketball game, Fredericktown trailed 18-11 after one quarter and 34-23 at halftime. The Lady Cats trimmed the lead to 45-39 heading into the fourth quarter, but Farmington scored 34 in the final period to pull away.

Mallory Mathes and Callista Francis led the Lady cats with 17 points, each. Kayleigh Slinkard scored six, Kylie Mann scored four, Mattie Whitworth and Maddie Burrows each scored two, and Emmaline Glore scored one point. Francis had 11 rebounds.

January 25, the Lady Cats lost 45-43, at Ste. Genevieve.

Fredericktown trailed 10-8 after one quarter and 22-20 at the half. The Cats took a 37-34 lead into the final period.

Whitworth led a balanced FHS scoring attack with 11 points. Mathes scored nine, and Glore and Francis each scored eight. Burrows scored four points, and Slinkard had three. Glore added 11 rebounds and four steals. Whitworth also had four steals. Francis grabbed nine rebounds.

January 24, the Cats lost 52-27 to North County.

The game was close throughout most of the first quarter. The Lady Cats trailed 11-9 with 1:38 to play in the period, before the Raiders scored six straight to end the quarter. North County led 28-16 at the half and 37-21 after three quarters.

Francis led with ten points. Mathes had eight. Glore led with seven rebounds.

The Lady Cats play at Valle, Thursday.
