Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory has been named as one of 164 funeral establishments in the nation to receive the coveted Pursuit in Excellence Award by the National Funeral Directors Association at its International Convention in Boston last month. This honor places the Farmington funeral home among the top 2 percent of all funeral homes in the United States.
This annual award honors funeral professionals who are dedicated to maintaining a positive image and adherence to only the highest ethical and professional standards.
This is the 15th year in a row Cozean Chapel has been recognized for that award. In 2012 Cozean Memorial Chapel was named to the Pursuit of Excellence’s elite “Hall of Honor.” To qualify for this recognition, a funeral home must have received this award for a minimum of 10 times.
“Our staff actually works on meeting the requirements for this award throughout the entire year,” said Jon Cozean, a fourth-generation funeral director in Farmington.
Achieving a Pursuit of Excellence Award requires that a funeral home must meet strict quality service criteria that include: compliance with state and federal regulations, continuing education and staff development; family outreach and support; community service and education; professional association service and participation in Pursuit standards through marketing, advertising and public relations.
NFDA is the leading and largest funeral service association with approximately 20,000 individual members in the United States and other countries.
Cozean Memorial Chapel is one of only a very few funeral establishments in Missouri to have been invited to membership in both of the major funeral professional service organizations: Order of the Golden Rule and Selected Funeral Directors International.
