Farmington Public Library Director Travis Trokey said there are changes coming to the library’s loaning policies in March.
The library board voted to extend the loan period to three weeks during the board’s January meeting.
The new policy, which goes into effect on Monday, March 5, is as following:
•All materials that currently have a two week loan period will have their loan periods extended to three weeks.
•The loan period for DVDs will be extended to one week from the current policy of three days.
•Patrons will be able to renew check-out materials two times instead of the current policy of one renewal.
Trokey said in November the library board discussed extending the loaning period to add an additional week from the current two week policy.
Following the meeting, Trokey spoke with directors in the state and found a majority of those responding have a three week loaning period for materials.
In addition, those library directors noticed the change was “well-received by the public and indicated there hadn’t been any negative impact on service,” Trokey said.
