Scouts Earn 'Eagle' Rank

Three Boy Scouts from Troop 247, sponsored by the American Legion Post 416, were honored Sept. 18 for having attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Three Boy Scouts from Troop 247, sponsored by the American Legion Post 416, were honored Sept. 18 for having attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Scouts Jacob Oyler, William Standiford and Braden Herrington were recognized during the special ceremony for their completion of the required projects. Scout Oyler built and erected flag poles at the IOOF Cemetery, Scout Standiford built a flag garden in front of the Post 416 building on West Columbia Street and Scout Herrington built a gun rack and rocking chair for Camp Hope.

Boy Scout Troop 247 was given its name by the scouts to show reverence for the United States 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
