UPDATED ON MARCH 9 WITH A NEW REOPENING DATE: The date for the reopening on Washington Street in Farmington is pushed back two days than originally scheduled, according to information provided by the city on Friday.
Due to a conflict with existing utilities, the reopening of the street will take place on Wednesday, March 14. The road was originally scheduled to reopen on Monday, March 12.
The release states the city apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. Drivers are encouraged to be aware of delays and find alternate routes.
ORIGINAL STORY: The northbound lane of Washington Street, north of Colorado Avenue, is closing this afternoon and will remain closed until Monday morning for sewer main replacement.
On Friday, the southbound lane of Washington Street will be closed south of Trimfoot Terrace and will remain closed until Monday morning as well.
Detours for those traveling in that area are in place. Those wanting to travel north on Washington Street can detour by taking Colorado Street to Michigan Street, then west on Trimfoot Terrace to access North Washington Street. The same route can be taken in the reverse direction for those traveling southbound.
Another northbound detour is to go north on KREI Boulevard and then west on Burks Road to access Washington Street.
An additional southbound detour is to take South Washington Street to the Hillsboro Road/Pine Street intersection, then travel west on Pine Street to Vandergriff St.
Motorists are asked to be aware of possible traffic delays and asked to see alternate routes.
