A former Fredericktown resident was killed and her brother seriously injured in a two-car collision that took place at 6:15 p.m. Friday on Highway 72, two-tenths of a mile west of County Road 350 in Cape Girardeau County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Corey M. Gill, 29, of Sedgewickville, attempted to pass another vehicle, came back into his driving lane, lost control of the Cobalt and traveled into oncoming traffic when it was struck by a westbound 2014 KIA Soul driven by Tiffany C. Raines, 28, of Marble Hill.
Gill and Raines were both transported via ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where Gill was treated for serious injuries and Raines for moderate injuries.
An occupant in Gills' car, Anna M. Kisner, 22, of Silva — formerly of Fredericktown — was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:56 p.m. by Cape Girardeau County Coroner David Taylor. Another occupant and brother to the decedent, Deacon W. Kisner, 16, of Fredericktown, was transported to St. Francois Medical Center where he was treated for serious injuries.
The patrol's report states that it is unknown if Gill was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Anna Kisner was not, but both Deacon Kisner and Tiffany Raines were.
