The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a missing man last seen Saturday evening in Potosi.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department Captain Zach Jacobsen said 24-year-old Brandon Bourbon’s cellphone pinged multiple times in Potosi and in the Washington County area. He is from Potosi and a former University of Kansas football player.

“He was supposed to be on his way to church here in Washington County,” said Jacobsebn. “He also had other plans with family here in Washington County, but his phone started pinging in Steelville and then on its way up to Maries County, up in that area and back towards Kansas City where he went to college. He is no longer in college and at this point we don’t believe he is in danger.”

Jacobsen said they don’t really know where he is or what he is doing, but they don’t believe he was kidnapped.

“He could have gone off and (done something) on his own, but we don’t know what that is,” said Jacobsen. “We have had no contact with him and his phone has not been turned on for over 24 hours now.”

Jacobsen added Bourbon is a very well-known and well-liked kid in this community. A lot of the deputies were close friends with him, so they are taking it kind of personal.

“We are doing everything we can to find him, but at this point all of our information indicates he has gone west,” said Jacobsen. “We have had a lot of contact with folks out in Maries County and points beyond trying to get his picture and vehicle description out there.”

Bourbon drives a silver Chrysler minivan with a Missouri personalized plate of RJ-JENA. Jacobsen said they are exhausting every lead at this point and any information has been immediately looked into, but it has turned up nothing at this point.

Anyone with any information is asked to call central dispatch at 573-438-1079.
