ORIGINAL STORY: The St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department, along with EMS, were dispatched to the intersection of Route JJ and Rouggly Road on Wednesday night at 10:07 p.m. for a gunshot victim.

Sheriff Dan Bullock said the body was found near the intersection, the victim having suffered two gunshot wounds.

“The victim was actually shot twice and one of the shots was in the head,” said Bullock. “It seems there may have been a confrontation of some kind and we aren’t sure if he was killed where he was found.”

Investigators were on the scene all night collecting evidence and were able to clear the area this morning. The victim has been identified but details are not being released at this time since the next of kin hasn’t been notified yet. The victim is described as a male in his thirties.

The sheriff’s department has been talking to a few persons of interest in the case. The sheriff’s department is looking for a dark colored 2000 Dodge Dakota or Chevy Colorado extended cab truck that was last seen heading east on Route JJ toward Route D. The driver is wanted for questioning and should be considered armed and possibly dangerous.

The sheriff’s department should release more information later this afternoon and the Daily Journal will post details as they become available.
