NEW INFO: The report has been released in the early morning fatal crash off Highway 32 and Sand Creek Road east of Farmington.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Wayne Kreitler, 42, of Ste. Genevieve, was driving his 2004 GMC Yukon westbound on Highway 32, while Phillip Aubuchon, 38, of Cadet, was driving a 200 Kenworth dump truck and Paul Scott, 41, of Bonne Terre, was driving a 1989 Freightliner dump truck eastbound on Highway 32.
Kreitler crossed the centerline and struck the driver’s side of Aubuchon’s truck, then struck the front of the Scott’s truck. One dump truck rolled onto its side while the other stayed upright.
Both Aubuchon and Scott were wearing a seatbelt. Kreitler was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Ste. Genevieve County Coroner Eric Basler.
It was initially reported that a second person was taken to a hospital to be treated, but no details have been released regarding any other injuries.
ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities are on the scene of an accident with a reported fatality at Highway 32 and Sand Creek Road east of Farmington.
Emergency personnel were first dispatched around 5:33 a.m. for the report of an accident between two dump trucks and a passenger vehicle.
Both the St. Francois County and Ste. Genevieve Coroners were called to the scene. Another patient is being transported for injuries.
Officials reported two dump trucks and an SUV were involved. Travelers should note the road is closed to traffic at Highway OO and Highway 32. The Farmington R-7 School district alerted parents the transportation department would send district vehicles to pick up students on 32 and Sand Creek to town due to the shut-down.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reconstructive team is conducting the investigation on the accident. We will update the story as details become available.
