CENTRALIA, ILLINOIS — Michael Whitmire Hammond of Centralia IL and Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully with family holding his hands and in the gentle care of AVOW Hospice on May 23, 2013 in Naples, Fla.
Michael was born in St. Louis, Mo. and is survived by his wife, Donna Hammond, and children, Jerry Hammond, Jane Battina, John Hammond and Juli Hammond, as well as a grandson, Justin Hammond.
Michael graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was co-owner of Egyptian Concrete Company and was highly respected in the engineering field as well as an active member of many professional engineering organizations.
Michael very much enjoyed his professional and personal relationships. He loved fishing, golf, spending time with his family at Bonita Beach in Florida and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. He was also known to enjoy libations with friends and the companionship of his beloved pups.
