A naked man reportedly burglarized an apartment in St. Francois County last week as the man living there slept on the couch.
According to a report from the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was called to the Jacob’s Creek Road Apartments on Oct. 13 for a burglary in progress involving a naked man.
The resident told the deputy he had just returned from vacation and was siting in his living room when he heard something outside. He said he looked out the window multiple times, but didn’t see anything.
He told the deputy he fell asleep and then awoke sometime later to a naked man standing inside his apartment. The resident told the naked man to leave, but he refused. The complainant told the deputy he punched the naked man in the face in an attempt to get him to leave.
He said the naked man fell out the door and into the gravel. He last saw him run behind the apartment into an overgrown field. The intruder was described as a white man wearing nothing but glasses.
The resident told the deputy he found the man's driver’s license in an abandoned vehicle near the apartment. He said the keys were left in the ignition, but he removed them so the man couldn’t leave. He gave the deputy the keys and the vehicle was towed to an impound yard.
The deputy searched the overgrown field but was unable to find the streaking intruder. The man also told the deputy he found the naked man's underwear behind the apartment ... and they were taken into evidence.
The deputy found a pair of broken glasses on top of a barbecue pit near where the intruder fell out the door of the apartment. A stop and hold was issued for the man and he was later arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold.
The name of the bare intruder was not released pending the filing of formal charges.
