The cause of death of an Ironton area man found in a driveway midday Monday remains undetermined pending toxicology results.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday morning did not yield any clues in the death of 43-year-old Carl Risher. As for the toxicology findings, Iron County Coroner Tony Cole said that could take four to six weeks.

Sheriff Roger Medley said there were no updates on the case as of Tuesday afternoon. The case is still under investigation.

"It's shaping up to be just a suspicious death," Medley said.

Authorities discovered the body at 1 p.m. Monday on the ground in a driveway on Valley Street, located just outside the Ironton city limits.

"He was found lying in the driveway, unconscious, by family members," Medley said Monday. "EMS was called, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. An investigation surrounding the circumstances is being conducted at this time."

Detectives questioned a person of interest almost immediately, but no charges were filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Iron County Sheriff's Department are conducting the investigation.

could it possibly have been a heart attack?

With no more information being provided or released at this time, I'm thinking it must be a drug related crime. An immediate "person of interest" was detained for questioning and drug offenders aren't the smartest. That's my speculation. Nonetheless, I hope law enforcement solves this case quickly and for justice to be served.
