TRENTON — The Mineral Area College Cardinals played shut-out baseball for 10-plus innings before inclement weather shutdown play for the day. The Cardinals, behind the superb, three-hit pitching of Dylan McEwin, won the first game 3-0 over the North Central Missouri Pirates, but game two was suspended in the bottom of the fourth with the Cardinals leading the game 1-0.
McEwin pitched the entire game, striking out eight batters and walking only three while MAC’s defense was played errorless ball behind him.
The Cardinals had eight hits in the game. Brad Ridings hit a double and a single in the game to score two of Mineral Area’s three runs. Tanner Glore hit a home run and a single to drive in two runs. Cody Garlington hit two singles, and Brad Wright and Tyler Bunge had one single each.
Mineral Area’s next games will be at home on Tuesday when they will host Rend Lake in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. MAC is now 25-20 overall and 12-11 in Region 16 play.
