MOUNT VERNON, Ill. - In Monday's rain-delayed final round, the Mineral Area College golf team improved 13 stokes over their Sunday round, bypassing two teams to capture third place in the Rend Lake Invitational at the Green Hills Golf Course.
The Cardinals, ranked 23rd nationally, tied John A. Logan with a 300 for the day to give them a two-day total of 613. John A. Logan placed first with 608, and Rend Lake was second at 611.
Tanner McKinney matched his Sunday score with a 71 to place first for medalist honors with a 142 total. Kellen Bader improved seven strokes to finish with a 75 for a two-day total of 157. Jesse Schott finished at 154 after a round of 76, and Matt Gordon shot a 78 to record a 160.
The tournament was Mineral Area's last scheduled event of the regular season
