CARTERVILLE, Ill. — Mikala Torrence finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI as the Mineral Area softball team notched its seventh straight win on Monday.

Faith Eaves had two RBI while going 2-for-3, and the Lady Cardinals erupted for 12 runs in the third inning to beat John A. Logan 14-4 in game one of a doubleheader.

Kimmie Roberts (4-1) allowed three earned runs on nine hits while striking out four over 4 2/3 innings. She fell one out short of throwing a complete game in the win.

Darby Ferguson and Alicia Otero were each 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Carrie Adams scored three times as Mineral Area compiled 13 hits overall.

Courtney Massengale and Tynai' Burrow added RBI hits and Chelsei Dale contributed a single with two runs scored.

John A. Logan would respond in game 2 for a 9-1 victory after netting five tallies in the fifth inning and limiting the Lady Cardinals to just four hits.

Ferguson went 2-for-2 and Torrence had an RBI double in the third inning for MAC. Adams yielded seven earned runs and nine hits in the circle.

Mineral Area (8-6) is scheduled to play 10 games in five days this week, including a Region 16 home doubleheader Tuesday against St. Louis.
