FARMINGTON — Sophomore outfielder Allyson Luce finished 2-for-3 with a RBI double, and the Mineral Area softball team defeated Shawnee 5-3 to salvage a doubleheader split on Tuesday.

Megan Smith, Tristan Branch and Emily Hanquist collected RBI hits, and Taylre Scott also singled for the Lady Cardinals in game two.

Kallie Federhofer scattered six hits and allowed one earned run in the circle. She picked up three strikeouts and also scored two runs offensively.

The MAC lineup generated nine hits in the opening contest, but suffered a narrow 5-4 setback. Hannah Ghant took the loss despite surrendering only two earned runs.

Katie Bevins finished 2-for-3 with a home run, and Emily Hanquist tied the single-season program record with her 11th on a solo shot.

Tory Smith and Erica Inman added RBI singles and Rebecca Hanquist doubled for the Lady Cardinals (14-19), who will travel to Three Rivers on Thursday.
