Lilly Pecaut homered and totaled four hits in two Region 16 tournament games as the Mineral Area softball team ended its season.

NEVADA, Mo. – Two losses at the Region 16 tournament on Saturday brought the conclusion to a season-long struggle for the Mineral Area softball team.

St. Louis topped the Lady Cardinals 7-3 in an elimination game after the top two seeds in the four-team bracket were knocked off in the opening round.

Lilly Pecaut finished 2-for-3 and Madison Binkard provided an RBI double as Mineral Area trimmed a 4-1 deficit with solitary runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

St. Louis answered with three tallies in the sixth against sophomore lefty Aubrianna Jones, who allowed 13 hits and two walks in the loss.

Kaelan Bradley, Samantha Ratledge, Kaitlin Orr and Sydney Parker all singled for the Lady Cardinals (17-34), who ended the spring on a seven-game losing streak.

Mineral Area opened the tournament with a 6-4 setback against East Central, despite a strong 3-for-4 effort from Ratledge that included an RBI double.

Pecaut belted her fifth home run of the season – a two-run shot – and was 2-for-4 overall with two runs scored. Parker registered a pair of singles.

The Lady Cardinals grabbed a 2-1 lead in the first inning, but East Central netted two runs in the third and fourth to surge ahead for good.

Brooke Gardner allowed six runs on 11 hits and struck out three for MAC.

Binkard added an RBI hit while JaNiah Jones and Bradley singled.
