PARK HILLS — The Mineral Area Lady Cardinals won all four of their matches over the weekend to champion the Great American Family Classic on their home court.

On Friday, the Lady Cardinals beat the McKendree JV’s in four games, 25-17, 25-12, 20-25 and 25-17. Maggie Deedrich led Mineral Area with 12 kills and Taylor Pulley made 17 digs.

In their second match, the Lady Cardinals swept Rend Lake in three, 25-9, 25-17, 25-20. Alexsandra Popovic made seven kills and four blocks Krista Mihelsone made 28 assists.

On Saturday, Mineral Area’s first victim was Lakeland  for their toughest match of the two-day event. MAC prevailed in five, 25-22, 25-27, 25-23, 17-25, 15-13. Deedrich connected on sets by Mihelsone for 16 kills, Janika McIntyre was next with 13, and Brittany Collins hammered  down a solid 10. Jami Jackson made five blocks.

Mineral Area’s finale was against Oakton, and the Lady Cardinals wasted little time in winning a 27-25, 25-19, 25-14 match. Deedrich was again the go-to player for spikes as she scored 11 kills to give her a total of 50 kills on the weekend. Popovic and Jackson had seven kills each. Pulley closed out her defensive week with 15 digs, and Makayla Nichols made 11.

Mineral Area (18-14) will host MSU-West Plains on Tuesday for their next match. They will also be at home on Wednesday against East Central.
