PARK HILLS — The Mineral Area College volleyball team mounted a spirited comeback to push Jefferson to five games for the second time this season Wednesday night.

But the visiting Lady Vikings led throughout much of the final stanza, and scrambled to take match point for a 25-21, 25-19, 13-25, 17-25, 15-13 victory, keeping MAC winless in Region XVI competition.

Janika McIntyre and Maggie Diederich recorded 12 kills each, and Alexsandra Popovic matched Jami Jackson with five blocks apiece for the Lady Cardinals (14-14), who are the defending region champions.

Krista Mihelsone compiled 42 assists in the narrow defeat. Taylor Pulley made 23 digs from the libero position while Danielle Guseman brought up 17 and Makayla Nichols added 15.

Mineral Area will hope to salvage a home win against MSU-West Plains on Tuesday before hosting the 3-team regional tournament next month.
