VINCENNES, Ind. — Freshman Brittany Lawson compiled 20 points and 15 rebounds Friday night, and the Mineral Area College women’s basketball team dominated the first half in a comfortable 87-68 win over Olney Central.

Angie Randall tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds as the Lady Cardinals had five players achieve double figures in scoring. Mineral Area (3-4) carried a 45-26 lead into halftime and shot 50 percent overall from the field.

Chelsea Pannier also poured in 16 points while Rita Banaszczak matched Hana Haden with 12 apiece. Banaszczak also contributed eight rebounds and seven assists.

Kelsee Ennis scored 17 points and Alyssa Like added 15 for Olney Central, which trailed MAC 65-35 at one juncture in the second half.

Mineral Area will face Rio Grande (Ohio) today at the Vincennes Classic.
