FARMINGTON – Freshman Brant Gray nailed his lone shot on a quick-release 3-pointer to give Farmington a 78-77 advantage over Poplar Bluff with about 40 seconds remaining in overtime on Tuesday.

Cameron Friend followed with a pair of free throws after the Mules traveled with less than 15 seconds to play.

Poplar Bluff regained possession with three seconds left, but the Knights defeated the Mules 80-77 for the first time in five years after Brendon Hardy fought to steal the final inbounds attempt.

Hardy recorded a game high 28 points for Farmington (6-5), while Friend contributed 13. Tycen Gray added 12 points despite fouling out early in the fourth quarter.

The Knights began the fourth period facing a 54-42 deficit, but battled in the post to slowly narrow the margin.

Poplar Bluff (7-5) established a presence down low early to help create an advantage, but it had two players foul out down the stretch. Dominique Hardimon notched 25 points for the Mules, and Xander Martin tallied 19.

Hardimon found success on drives into the lane, and helped expand a 23-14 Poplar Bluff lead at the end of the first quarter.

Hardy yielded exceptional results on his jump shots, as the Knights shrank the spread to 37-34 at the break after Jackson Schrum split a pair of free throws.

Poplar Bluff continued to attack in the post during the third quarter, and quickly reestablished a 10-point advantage.

Houston held the ball for the last shot of regulation, but missed a contested layup to leave the score squared at 71-71. The Farmington inbounds was stolen with three seconds on the clock to force an extra period.

Schrum ended with 11 points for Farmington, while Bryce Sancegraw added nine.

Joseph Hardimon recorded 11 points in the loss.

St. Vincent 87, Bismarck 58

PERRYVILLE, Mo. – St. Vincent outscored Bismarck 28-11 during the second quarter, and rolled at home to an 87-58 victory.

Trevor Lukefahr compiled 22 points with 11 assists for St. Vincent (9-2), which seized control after the opening period ended in a 16-16 deadlock. Matt Rellergert finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Logan Dunn netted 15 points and Devon Warden had 14 to lead Bismarck (3-8), which landed four players in double figures.

Hunter Drake tallied 13 points and Tim Mork contributed 11.

Hillsboro 76, Central 55

HILLSBORO, Mo. – Gaven Pinkley collected 22 points with 12 rebounds in a 76-55 triumph as Hillsboro defeated Central for the third time in the last month.

The unbeaten Hawks (13-0) picked up a go-ahead basket within the final seconds of the first quarter to lead 15-13, then seized command for a 39-19 halftime separation.

Isaiah Martin and Michael Brewer added 13 points each, and Austin Fleming notched 10 as Hillsboro shot 55 percent from the field.

Wade Scherffius scored 18 points for Central (6-6).

Cape Central 75, Ste. Genevieve 31

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Cape Central limited Ste. Genevieve to single-figure scoring in every quarter to secure a 75-31 victory on Tuesday.

Chauncey Hughes recorded a game-high 17 points for the Tigers, and Austin Parker added 15. Kinyon Hodges contributed 12 points to the win.

Cape Central (11-1) built a sizable 48-15 advantage at the break.

Drew Toombs paced Ste. Genevieve (4-8) with 12 points, and Logan Trollinger finished with seven.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Steelville 50, Potosi 44

POTOSI – Steelville senior Abby Booker made two late 3-pointers to help hold off the Potosi girls basketball team on Tuesday.

Booker paced all players with 18 points, while Sydney Booker added 10 points in a 50-44 victory for the Lady Cardinals.

Olivia Coleman recorded 16 points for Potosi (5-6), while Mackenzie Adams posted 13. Cameryn Yount contributed 10 points in defeat.

The Lady Trojans trailed 21-13 at halftime, and brought the deficit within four during the fourth quarter until the perimeter attack from Abby Booker.

Crystal City 53, Bismarck 24

BISMARCK – Crystal City traveled to Bismarck and claimed a 53-24 victory.

Brooklynn Fitzwater scored 16 points for the Lady Indians (0-10).
