Wilma V. Mathews

DESLOGE — Wilma V. Mathews, 89, passed away Dec. 23, 2002, at National Health Care of Desloge.

Wilma was born Nov. 4, 1913, at Lesterville, Mo.

She was co-owner and operator of Mathews Grocery in Desloge from 1954 to 1991. Member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Park Hills.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli Russell and Lucy “Barton” Russell; her first husband, Elmer Bone; one daughter, Billie Juanita Bone and a son-in-law Albert Stroup. Later, her second husband George Mathews also preceded her in death.

Survived by five daughters, Colleen Stroup of Pensacola, Fla.; Janice Reeves (Shardell) of Auburndale, Fla.; June Winch (Woodie) of Springfield, Mo.; Joan Eaton (Ralph) of Bonne Terre and Vicky Franklin (Dennis) of Desloge; grandchildren, Gerry Stroup, Terry Stroup, Missy Meredith, Becky Brown, Kevin Reeves, Laura Lane, Bryan and Christopher Franklin, Mac and Andrea Eaton. Thirteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Horton-Wampler Funeral Home. Services for Wilma Mathews will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Freewill Baptist Church of Park Hills, with Rev. James Barker and Rev. Chuck Lotz officiating.
