Baseball sign-ups and try-outs are happening now

As the summer season approaches several towns are having sign-ups for baseball and softball teams for travel leagues and city teams. Teams and leagues may send their try-out and sign-up dates and times to the Daily Journal either by phone, 431-2010 ext. 137#, or by FAX 431-7640. They will be listed by date as often as possible in the sports pages, but no sooner than two weeks of the event.

Mineral Area Baseball Association (MABA) teams will be listed under their appropriate leagues with (ages). Ages are determined by August 1.

City leagues and teams will be listed as such by the town and date they will occur. Meetings for coaches, parents, etc. will also be listed.

All events should be specified as either a try-out, sign-up or meeting.

MABA Meeting — April 2

There will be a meeting for all Bantam, Cal Ripken Minor, and Cal Ripken coaches and managers on April 2 at 7 p.m. at the Park Hills Senior Center. All teams should be represented at the meeting. For further information contact Dan Lashley at 431-3048 or 701-2320.

MABA Meeting — April 3

There will be a meeting for all Junior Babe Ruth, 16-Year-Old, and Senior Babe Ruth coaches and managers on April 3 at 7 p.m. at the Leadington VFW Hall.All teams should be represented at this meeting. For further information contact John Simily at 562-7903.

13 YR. OLD LEAGUE

Raiders Sign-ups — March 29

The North County Raiders will hold their sign-ups at Brightwell Park on March 29 at 11 a.m. For any further information contact Scott Huff at 756-8021.

Blue Jays Sign-ups — April 1

The Farmington Blue Jays will be holding sign-ups on April 1 between 6 and 7 p.m. at the entrance to the Farmington Middle School. Try-outs will be at Wilson Rozier Park at 5:30 p.m. on April 4, and at 2 p.m. on April 6. For more information contact Matt Hoehn at 756-4023.

Falcons Try-outs — March 30

The Farmington Falcons will hold their tryouts at Wilson Rozier ballfield at 1 p.m. on March 30. For further information contact Scott Winder at 760-1988.

Giants Sign-ups — Apirl 2

The Park Hills Giants will have sign-ups for the team on April 2 from 6-7 p.m. at the Park Hills Sports Complex. Contact Shane Woods at 431-3622 for information.

CITY LEAGUES

Desloge Sign-ups — March 29

The Desloge Community Baseball program will have registration for its summer leagues at North County Desloge Elementary School on March 29 from 10-12 a.m. and on April 3 from 6-7:30 p.m. for all players ages 4-18 in the Desloge area. Farmington Sign-ups — April 4

The Farmington Merchants League is announcing its sign-ups for summer softball and baseball teams for all boys and girls from kindergarten to sixth grade in the Farmington School District. Applications may be picked up at school or at the Farmington Parks & Recreation Office, and must be complete with parents signature and turned in by April 4.
