Salvation Army has material assistance available to families of soldiers who have been ordered to active duty.
The Salvation Army’s Home Front War Relief will support families of troops, separated from their spouses and/or parents with financial assistance to meet basic human needs, along with problem solving casework, counseling and other supportive services.
A one time request can be made for up to $1000. in assistance. Any requests must be made at one time. Requests for help a second time will not be accepted. Be sure to consider all your needs before submitting an application.
A copy of the soldier’s military orders, photo ID and invoice or statement will be required to process the request. A self declaration of need (e.g. for food) when documentation is not available must be made.
Eligible persons include spouses and/or dependents with deployed military personnel.
A list of some of the items covered by the assistance follows:
Food, lodging, transportation, housing/mortgage, clothing, furniture, counseling, medical/prescriptions, rent, utilities, legal, funeral and more.
Total assistance should not exceed $1000. per family.
