Luminaries on sale
for “Relay for Life”
Time is getting short to buy your luminaries for those loved ones who are fighting cancer or the loved ones who have lost the fight. Anyone wishing to purchase a luminaria in honor of, or in memory of, a friend or loved one should call Conita at 783-3993.
The cost is $5 each. The luminaria ceremony will take place at 9 p.m. on June 20 at the Fredericktown Football Field. This is a very beautiful and impressive ceremony as each name is read and a candle is lit in honor of, or in memory of, loved ones. Our goal is to sell enough luminaries to light the entire area around the football field.
The Relay for Life brings many teams from Madison County together with one goal in mind, to raise money for the Cancer Society so we can stamp out cancer. Progress is being made but we still need your help. In 1946, the year the American Cancer Society awarded it’s first research grants only one in four cancer patients was alive five years after diagnosis; today 60% live longer than five years.
The Relay for Life is a family oriented fun filled evening. There will be entertainment for all ages during the evening. The relay begins at 6 p.m. on June 20. Come out and join the fun.
