Bombers edge out Outlaws 2-0
BONNE TERRE — The Bonne Terre Bombers got a solid pitching performance from Zach Turner Monday night against the Farmington Outlaws. Turner allowed just one hit in five innings of work enroute to a 2-0 victory. Turner also struck out 14 batters in the process.
Levi Moss led the Bombers with a two-run single. Levi Spray, Drew Rhodes, Collin Black, and Turner each had a single. Alex Pinkston had the lone hit for the Outlaws.
The Bombers improve to 5-2-1 and will travel to Valley on Thursday. The Outlaws fall to 4-6 and will travel to Park Hills on Monday to take on the Wolves.
Browns 16, Blazers 4
DOE RUN — The Desloge Browns broke out the bats Tuesday evening against the Doe Run Blazers. The Browns racked up 16 runs in what turned out to be a 16-4 win.
Jesse Wright picked up the win on the mound for the Browns. Wright struck out nine batters in his effort.
Jayden Odle led the Browns at the plate with a grandslam home run and a double. Anthony Baumer had a double and a pair of singles. Garrett Coffman had three singles. Jacob Barbee had a double and a single. Nick Butler led the Blazers at the dish with a double.
The Browns improve to 3-6 and will travel to Park Hills on Tuesday to take on the Rockets. The Blazers fall to 0-8 and will host the Leadwood Sharks on Thursday.
Oilers 5, Raiders 4
DESLOGE — The Valley Oilers pulled out a dramatic victory over the Desloge Raiders on Tuesday. Travis Draper’s RBI double in the top of the fifth inning was the winning hit as the Oilers earned a 5-4 win.
Brandon Kearns struck out 14 batters and scattered four hits over five innings to earn the victory. Kearns also had a double in the contest. Blake Archer took the loss for the Raiders, but struck out nine hitters in three innings of relief.
Cody Suttles had a pair of singles to lead the Oilers, while Dakota McClain added an RBI single. Justin Ruby had two hits, and drove in a pair of runs for the Raiders. Derek Mitchell had two extra-base hits with a double and a triple.
The Oilers improved to 7-2 with the victory. The Oilers will host the Bonne Terre Bombers on Thursday. The Raiders stand at 5-4-1 on the season.
