Knights punish Elks 8-0
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Knights hosted the Potosi Elks Thursday evening in Senior Babe Ruth action. The Knights dominated the contest, posting an 8-0 win.
Josh Skaggs got the start and the win on the mound for Farmington. Skaggs pitched four innings, gave up just one hit, and struck out six batters. Ryan Aubuchon suffered the loss for Potosi. Aubuchon pitched four innings, gave up five runs on five hits, and struck out three batters.
Farmington went to work in the first inning as Michael Hall hit a two-run triple to put the Knights on the board. Farmington tacked another run on to their lead in the second inning to make it a 3-0 game.
Craig Zobrisky made some noise for the Knights in the third inning. Zobrisky delivered a two-run home run to give Farmington a commanding 5-0 lead.
The Knights added three more runs in the sixth inning. The first run scored on a double by Jake Johnson in which a throwing error plated a run. Chris Bone picked up tthe second run of the inning with an RBI single. The third and final run came courtesy of a Potosi error.
Zobrisky had a huge night at the plate for Farmington, with a home run and three singles. Michael Hall a triple and two singles.
The Knights improve to 10-2 and will travel to Bonne Terre on Tuesday to take on the Indians. The Elks fall to 6-7 and will travel to Arcadia Valley on Monday.
Pirates 14, Mets 1
PARK HILLS — The Leadwood Pirates have yet to lose a game in the Senior Babe Ruth League as Thursday night they continued their undefeated season with a win over the Park Hills Mets 14-1. Alan Hickman got the win with a five-hit performance on the mound. Hickman walked one and struck out 11 batters.
Grant Becker, Kenny Pikula, Hickman and Jake Sitton all had two hits for the Pirates. Ryan Becker, Preston Gross and Scott Hubbard each had one hit. Ryan Becker and Jake Sitton each had a double for one of their hits. Hitters for the Mets were Tim Hafner, Brett Meador, Brian Gann, Victor Pyle and Bo Beckett with one single each.
Leadwood is now 11-0 and will play next at the Farmington Knights on Monday. Park Hills (1-11) will play on Monday at North County High School against the Diamond Dawgs.
