Deputy injured in accident

A deputy with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department was moderately injured while responding to an emergency call on Monday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Clyde Anderson, 67, Bismarck, was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route W, just west of the St. Francois River, in St. Francois County. The accident occurred as Anderson’s vehicle passed another vehicle, driven by Michael Clark, 17, Farmington. Clark’s vehicle turned into Anderson’s vehicle, pushing it off the roadway. Anderson’s vehicle slid into a bale of hay and came to a stop.

Anderson was taken to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center by St. Francois County Ambulance.

In an unrelated accident, Travis Day, 52, Ironton, sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 21, two miles north of Graniteville, in Iron County.

Day was injured when his motorcycle went out of control, ran off the roadway, overturned and caught fire, the highway patrol reports. Day was taken by ambulance to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center.
