Work being done on Old Fredericktown Road

Motorist in the southeastern part of Farmington are probably aware of the work being done on Old Fredericktown Road. Work on widening the roadway, placing of curbs and gutters as well as the addition of a storm water drainage system began on this stretch of road in late August.

According to Jeff Blue, public works director for the city, the roadway is being widened to almost twice its original size in spots.

“The street was 16 feet wide and it will be going up to 28 feet wide in areas,” he said.

Lappe Construction of Perryville was the low-bidder on this project. They have previously done curb and gutter work for the city. Even though the project started a little later than planned, Blue hopes to see completion before the start of winter.

“We are looking to complete this work in either late October or early November,” he added.
