Top conference teams have good non-conference night
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Knightettes picked up another non-conference victory on Monday, but it wasn’t easy. The Hillsboro Lady Hawks played a steady match, and enjoyed a 6-0 lead in game two, but the Knightettes held them off for a 25-22, 25-18 victory.
Natalie Bess led Farmington in kills with nine, and in service points with seven. Katelyn Peterson finished the match with seven kills and six points. Both players also passed the ball well from the back row.
Chelsea Johnson stepped up for the Knightettes with an excellent setting performance. Johnson accumulated 11 assists, while Bethany Fink added five.
Farmington (12-3) has another tough opponent on the schedule for Thursday. The Knightettes will host Borgia.
Bismarck 25-12, 25-13, Lesterville
LESTERVILLE — The Bismarck Lady Indians had no trouble on Monday, as they stepped out of conference play to challenge Lesterville. The unbeaten streak reached 19 games as the Lady Indians rolled to a 25-12, 25-13 win over the Lady Bearcats.
The entire Bismarck saw substantial playing time to contribute to the victory. Cassidy Wisdom had another big night with 14 kills, 10 digs, and eight service points, leading the team in all three categories.
Lindsey Taylor had six kills, 12 assists, and two blocks. Karah Faulkner added six kills and five digs. Chelsey Morris led Bismarck in assists with 14, and chipped in three kills.
Bismarck (18-0-1) will make the short drive to Leadwood this evening to square off with West County.
Potosi 25-18, 25-22, Sullivan
SULLIVAN — The Potosi Lady Trojans are still red-hot in their volleyball playing. Monday the Lady Trojans defeated Sullivan in two straight games 25-18, 25-22. to bring their record to 7-2-2 on the year.
Three Lady Trojans led in serving with Jordan Simpson, Julie McGirl and Lora Dickey serving six points each. McGirl and Dickey led in kills with eight and six respectively. McGirl had three blocks and Dickey had two. Ashley Mims put up 18 good assists, and Alis’ Lore had six digs. Audrey Franklin had five digs.
Potosi will host Kingston on Monday for a non-conference match.
Herculaneum 25-17, 25-19, North County
HERCULANEUM — The North County Lady Raiders faced another tough opponent on Monday, as they traveled north to Herculaneum. The Lady Blackcats defended their home court with a 25-17, 25-19 victory over the Lady Raiders.
Jessica Murdick played another good all-around match for North County, with nine kills, four digs, and five assists. Brittany Hedgcorth led the Lady Raiders in assists with seven.
Brittani Schwartzkopf was the team’s front-runner in service points with five. Ashley AuBuchon tied Murdick for the team lead in digs with four.
North County (5-7-1) will play a road contest against conference rival, Ste. Genevieve on Thursday. However, the match will not count in the conference standings.
Viburnum 25-16, 25-17, Kingston
CADET — The Kingston Lady Cougars were roughed up a bit by the visiting Viburnum Lady Jays. The Lady Cougars could not seem to get on track in either game.
Alicia Bone led the team with six points, five kills and five assists. Amanda Pinson led in serves with seven and Angie Politte had six. Nichole Govero also had five assists.
Kingston, 1-5, will play at Arcadia Valley this evening in a conference match-up.
