Bulldogs make short work of Woodland
FRANKCLAY — The West County Bulldogs hit the baseball with a vengeance on Thursday to support a terrific pitching effort by John Barnett and Jake Sitton. The Woodland Cardinals managed just one hit in five innings as the Bulldogs cruised to an easy 14-0 victory.
Barnett started and pitched four innings, striking out seven while allowing no walks. Sitton struck out the side in a scoreless fifth inning to close out the game.
Richard McCoy was a perfect 3-3 at the plate for West County, including a pair of doubles and three RBI. Barnett helped himself by going 2-2 with a RBI. Sitton finished up 2-3 with two doubles and two runs driven in, and James Abel went 1-2 with a two-run triple.
West County (12-2) will host the Bunker Eagles on Monday at Frankclay Field.
Valley 3, Arcadia Valley 1
Arcadia Valley 2, Valley 0
IRONTON — The Arcadia Valley Tigers and Valley Vikings began a series of four head-to-head games in two days on Thursday. Good pitching was the rule of the day as the two teams split a pair of low-scoring contests.
The Vikings handed the Tigers their first loss of the fall season in game one. Kris Kearns earned the victory as the Vikings won 3-1. Arcadia Valley turned the tables in game two as Jon Hankins tossed another shutout. The Tigers picked up a 2-0 decision.
Arcadia Valley (10-1) and Valley (9-5) will meet for two more games this afternoon, but this time the scene will shift to Caledonia.
