Portions of Desloge are under boil water order
DESLOGE – Desloge businesses and residents were issued a boil water order Monday afternoon by the Park Hills Water Department due to a water main break. According to the Park Hills Water Department, AmerenUE accidentally drilled through a water main while putting in electric lines.
The boil water order was issued for the areas from the intersection of North Desloge Drive to State Street, including the Riverview Gardens subdivision, excluding Southfork in Desloge.
“This is strictly precautionary,” said John Black of the Park Hills Water Department. “With all the restaurants in the area we wanted to be safe. We sent a water sample to the lab yesterday and we have one on the way there now. Two water samples are required for testing purposes. We hope to be out from underneath the order tomorrow.”
According to Black the order was released to the radio stations at around 1 p.m. Monday.
Desloge City Administrator Eric Wiederhold commended the Park Hills Water Department for issuing the order, but said he wished everyone had gotten notice of it in a more timely manner.
“I want to applaud them on issuing the notice for the safety of the residents,” Wiederhold said. “However, it would have been nice to get notice of the order in a more timely fashion and it also would have been nice if we would have gotten a timetable for how long the order is going to be in effect.”
Wiederhold said they were not officially notified until 3:45 p.m.
