Central Elementary puts on parade for Red Ribbon week
PARK HILLS –While several schools put on parades on Halloween, Central Elementary put on a parade of a different sort. In honor of Red Ribbon Week Central Elementary put on a drug free parade. Each class decorated a wagon and designated it as their float representing being drug free.
Two to three kids from each classroom presented their floats to a panel of judges Friday morning. The floats ranged from themes like the ‘The Wizard of Oz’ to ‘Rocky.’
First, second, and third place ribbons were awarded to the participants.
Mr. Miller’s class won first place in the parade. Mrs. Sims’ class captured second place while Mrs. Wallace’s class placed third.
“We try to instill in our students to say no to drugs,” said Central Elementary Principal Mike Jarvis. “We start at a very early age trying to get them to say no to drugs.”
The faculty served as a kazoo band to lead the parade floats.
