Fire destroys Park Hills home

PARK HILLS — A second alarm residential fire at 605 Wash Street in Park Hills ravaged a one and a half story home Saturday. The house is owned by Richard House of Park Hills and was used as a rental property.

According to Park Hills Fire Department Lieutenant Jackie Waggner, the fire was reported at 4:33 p.m. and responders were on the scene by 4:39 p.m. No occupants were reported to have been in the home at the time the fire was reported.

Responding fire departments included Park Hills Fire Department, Big River Fire Protection District, Desloge Fire Department, Bonne Terre City Fire Department, Bismarck Fire Department, Farmington Fire Department and Leadington Fire Department.

According to fire department officials, the fire was under control within 20 minutes of responders arriving on the scene. The fire is believed to have started in the center of the home. The house is believed to be a total loss.

The cause of the fire is unknown and an investigator with the state fire marshal’s office has been called to investigate.
