Charles W. Dickinson

PILOT KNOB – Rev. Charles W. Dickinson of Pilot Knob, MO, passed away Dec. 12, 2003, in St. Louis, MO at the age of 77 years, 1 month, and 26 days.

He was born Oct. 16, 1926, in New Castle, PA, the son of the late William and Elizabeth Davis Dickinson.

On Aug. 4, 1953, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Smith who preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1999.

On Oct. 28, 2000, he married Lila Sue Haertling, who survives. Also surviving are six children, Kathryn Elizabeth Reed of Brighton CO, Linda Jean Hoelzle of Freemont, OH, Charlene Ann Miller of Cleveland, OH, Sharon Lee Zoglemann and Charles Wm., Dickinson of Wellington, KS, and Barbara Janet Richardson of Derby, KS; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother William Dickinson III and two sisters, Annie Naomi Baker and Zealot Ruth Dickinson.

Rev. Dickinson was a member of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Bonne Terre, MO. He was a retired Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bonne Terre, MO. He was a retired Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ironton, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pilot Knob, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck, and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Potosi, MO. During WWII he served his Country in the United States Air Force.

Funeral services will be held on Wed. Dec. 17 at 10 AM from the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ironton, MO with Pastor Thomas Reeder officiating. Visitation will begin on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 PM at Bryson Funeral Home in Pilot Knob MO. Interment will be in the Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Seminary Scholarship Fund.
