Monroe Crites
FARMINGTON — Monroe Lester Crites of Columbia, formerly of Hallsville, was baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection on December 27, 2003, at the age of 91 years. He was born April 27, 1912, at Lesterville, the son of the late Henry Jacob and Mary. L. (Wisthler) Crites. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Crites, and son, Henry Crites.
Mr. Crites was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and before his retirement, he worked as a custodian for the St. Joseph Catholic School.
He is survived by four sons, Monroe Crites and wife Franziska, Clifford Crites and wife, Alice, all of Columbia, Donald Crites and wife Lucy of Hallsville, and Michael Crites and wife Bernie of Afton, six daughters, Betty (Mrs. Joe) Henfling of Hallsville, Thelma (Mrs. Larry) Penberthy of Paris, Mo., Delores Brown of Mexico, Mo., Kathy Huffman of Festus, Anna (Mrs. Tom) Brewer of St. Louis, and Lena (Mrs. Randy) Jacobson of Aux Vasse, Mo., a sister, Mary Hafner of Farmington, thirty four grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2003. A funeral service will be held at Cozean Chapel on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association. Complete obituary is online at: .
