Nathaniel Ashby

PARK HILLS – Nathaniel L. “Shy” Ashby of Elvins, 95, passed away Jan. 27, 2004 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington. He was born Nov. 3, 1908, at Sandridge, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry Ashby and Lea Mills Ashby; and wife: Leila “Young” Ashby; three sisters: Henrietta O’Brien; Ella Weiss,and Mary Ashby Grandchildren: Melissa Martin, and Michelle Ashby.

He is survived by the following children: Jerry and wife Barbara of Farmington; Patsy and husband Gene Martin of Park Hills; Judy and husband Denny Baker of Park Hills; Jane and husband Ed Hartley of Bismarck, and 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. Other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives also survive. Shy was the last surviving member of the Old Elvins Senators Baseball team as well as a retired St. Joe employee with 43 years of employment.

Visitation was be Jan. 29 after 4:30 at Horton and Wampler Funeral Home

Services were be Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. at Horton and Wampler Chapel with Rev. Elbert Mason officiating. Burial was at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
