Marcus ‘Clifford’ Stewart

BONNE TERRE – Clifford Stewart, 82, of Bonne Terre, formerly of Hillsboro, died Feb. 2, 2004 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 15, 1921 at Flat River.

He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Veteran Army AirCorp WW II, received 10 Bronze Stars, his group received Presidential Honors. Life member VFW Post 3777, Festus. Charter member Jefferson County Amateur Radio Club. Retired from St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Preceded in death by parents, William and Mabel (Porter) Stewart; brothers: Jesse, Paul and John Stewart; sisters, Lucille Kleppsattel and Olive Cloud.

Survived by, wife, Evelyn (Bachesta) Stewart of Bonne Terre; children: Mary, Mrs. Graham MacKenzie; Margaret, Mrs. Allen Lawless; Michael (Nancy) Stewart. Grandchildren: John (Tammy) Hardin, Kathleen (Robert) Armand, Sherry (Randall) Moore, David Thomas, Evan Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Marie (Joe) Pilotto and Aaron Stewart; two sisters, Martha DeClue and Mary (Benton) Hurst; three brothers: Clark (Jean) Stewart, Joseph (Elaine) Stewart, David (Joyce) Stewart; 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation today, 2-6 p.m. at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home, Bonne Terre. Services are Thursday at 10 a.m. at C.Z. Boyer & Son Chapel with Rev. Richard Northcutt officiating. Interment at Zion United Methodist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion united Methodist Church, PO Box 28, Mapaville, MO 63065.
