Martha Elzana ‘Monk’ Cain (nee Nash) of Desloge passed away Thursday, February 12, 2004, at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center at the age of 86 years. She was born February 15, 1917, in Blackwell, Mo., to the late Archibald and Hattie Nash (nee Rulo). Martha is also preceded in death by her husband: Virgil Elmer Cain, three daughters, two sons, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, and two half-brothers.
Mrs. Cain is survived by her dear children: Mary Jane (Brian) Voss of Mineral Point, Sarah Elizabeth Degonia of Farmington, Mandy Ellen (Jim) Culp of Mineral Point and special daughter-in-law: Sharon Cain of Desloge, Joe Edward (Theresa) Cain of Cadet, 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-grandchild: Hunter Logan Steinc. Also survived by one sister: Myrtle Warden of Lebanon. Many step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren, cousins and dear friends also survive.
Family to receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2004, at the Shearin-Sparks Funeral Home, 11 S. Long St., & Hwy. 47, Bonne Terre. Funeral services to be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2004, at the Shearin-Sparks Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Guy Conway officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Presbyterian Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the family.
