The Blackcats Basketball team won pair of games, last week, heading into the District Tournament.
February 16, the Cats topped the St. Vincent Indians, 83-61, at St. Vincent.
The Indians dashed to a 19-18 first quarter lead, but Fredericktown turned on the offense in the second quarter. The Cats got eight from Guard Micah Reutzel in the quarter and Forward Kyle Tesreau added another six. It was 45-36, Fredericktown at halftime.
A 22-12 third quarter sealed the deal for the Cats. Tesreau had and Reutzel each had eight in the period, and D.J. Hinkle had six.
For the game, Tesreau led the Cats with 21. Reutzel had 19, Hinkle had 11, and Steve Wienecke had 11. Kevin Foster scored eight, D.J. Groves and Josh Collier scored four each, and Joaby Sikes had three.
February 20, the Cats won 69-44, at Valle (Ste. Genevieve).
The Cats jumped to an 18-13 lead over the Warriors in the first quarter. The lead increased to 34-19 at the half, as Collier had 14 first-half points.
Collier led all scorers with 23 for the game. Foster had 11, and Sikes and Hinkle had ten each. Tesreau had nine, and Mike Francis, Groves, and Wienecke had two each.
