Stone files for Commissioner on Republican ticket
A race has developed for one of the County Commissioner seats. Joe Stone has filed on the Republican ticket for the seat held by Bill Bradley.
Stone said he filed because he believes it is time for a change and he feels that he can do the job.
“Those guys have been there a long time with no major competition,” Stone said. He added that as he is near retirement he believes it is time to give a little community service to the county and he would like to be considered for the elected post.
Stone ran for the position before in 2000, but he filed on the Democratic ticket then.
He has previously held public office. He served on the North County School Board.
Bradley was called for comment, but said he had none to make at this time.
Filings for county offices end at 5 p.m. March 30.
Candidates will first face off in a primary election to select the party representative for the November general election.
The primary is Aug. 3.
