Fredericktown shuts down Perryville in district opener
DEXTER – Kyle Tesreau pitched seven shutout innings, leading his Fredericktown Blackcats to a 1-0 win over the Perryville Pirates in their district tournament on Monday.
Tesreau held the Pirates to just three hits in his seven innings of work. He struck out 10 batters while walking six.
The Blackcats scored their only run in the fourth when D. J. Hinkle crossed the plate on a passed ball. He had led off the inning with a single.
Fredericktown totaled five hits on the day. Tyler Halpin finished the day 2-3.
Fredericktown improves to 13-7-1 with the win. The Blackcats move on to face Sikeston today.
Festus 11, Central 2
POTOSI – The Central Rebels’ season came to an end on Tuesday as they lost 11-2 to the Festus Tigers in their district tournament.
Brock Boren started and took the loss for the Rebels. He lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on six hits while walking five.
Central grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Jimmy Thompson got things started with a two-out single and advanced to second when Brock Boren walked. Both runners advanced on a passed ball before Victor Piel could knock in both runners with a single.
Festus would counter with nine runs in the fifth to take a commanding lead. The Tigers added two more late to win 11-2.
Central managed just three hits on the day. Piel finished the day 2-3 while Thompson finished 1-3.
Central’s season ends with an overall record of 5-19.
