Noll gets eight years in prison for selling meth

FARMINGTON – An Iron County woman was sentenced to eight years in prison despite her public defender’s request for probation.

Circuit Court Judge Kenneth W. Pratte recently sentenced Melissa Noll, 36, of Arcadia, to eight years in prison for two counts of sale of a controlled substance – meth.

Her public defender, David Bari asked for probation, saying Noll had expressed remorse for the offense and had been seeking drug treatment on her own.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Patrick King, however, recommended eight years in prison. He said she made two sales to confidential informants, three weeks apart and still didn’t “own up to much.”

“I am not granting probation,” said Judge Pratte.

The judge then expressed frustration that Noll had not been screened by the State Board of Probation and Parole for a 120-day drug treatment program.

“She obviously has a drug program…” the judge said. “It seems to me if they have a drug problem they ought to be screened for (the treatment program), regardless.”

With the program not an option, the judge decided to sentence her to time in prison.
